Black Lava Salt Deviled Eggs

IMG_3819This is just a quick modification on a classic deviled egg.  The black lava salt is highly salty but the basil helps cut back on that and adds a fresh burst of flavor.


dozen eggs

1/4 cup mayo

1/4 cup mustard

2 tbs white vinegar

sprinkling of paprika for each egg

a few fresh basil leaves

1 tsp black lava salt


As always, cook, peel and halve your eggs!  Put the yolks in a bowl and mix with all ingredients except paprika and basil.  If you ever feel the need for more of something, add it.  I always taste to see what I like or don’t like then compensate – this mixture works great for me but some folks might like a stronger mayo or mustard flavor, for instance.  Spoon mixture into the egg halves and top each with just a little sprinkle of paprika, just for color.  Top each with a sliver or two of the fresh basil and serve.
