Sirloin Steak and Cream Cheese Peppers

IMG_2176This was a fantastic and easy meal that made me look like some kind of a gourmet chef!  I used ingredients I had on hand and steaks from an Omaha Steak order and had a wonderful dinner.

sirloin steaks

black truffle salt – enough to sprinkle on each side of the steak

1 spoonful each steak black truffle butter – I had some leftover from a previous meal but if you want to make your own it’s just a sprinkle of salt per tbs of butter mixed together

3 yellow chili peppers – sliced in half and seeded (or more if you are having more than 2 guests – these guys are pretty small)

1 shallot – chopped

2 cloves garlic – chopped

8 oz cream cheese – softened

pepper – to taste

Heat the oven to 350.  In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, shallots, garlic and a bit of pepper until well combined.  Fill each pepper half with the mixture.  Place in a shallow baking dish.  If they won’t lay upright and keep tipping over, shave just a bit off the bottom to make them sit up correct.  Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

For your steaks, dry them off with a paper towel and rub truffle salt onto both sides. Heat up a skillet until some droplets of water sizzle.  In the dry skillet, cook the steaks for 4 minutes each side for rare to medium rare – longer if you want them more well done.

Plate and top your steaks with a dollop of truffle butter!  Yum!  I had a glass of Cupcake Red Velvet with this and it was a really nice contrast of flavors.
