Here’s another easy appetizer to throw together on the fly for a party platter. Just some cheese, some pears, some basil and some toothpicks will do it! I jazzed this up a bit by marinating my cheese first.
1 block raw milk white cheese – this works best with the pears – if you can’t find raw milk cheese, just get a block of a plain white cheese
1 or 2 pears chopped into small squares to coincide with the size of your blocks of cheese
a few basil leaves
1 tbs olive oil
1 tsp pepper
1 tbs cilantro – chopped
1 tbs parsley – chopped
All the complicated-ness up there is just saying cut everything up into equal shapes and sizes. In a plastic baggie, toss your cheese with the olive oil, pepper, cilantro and parsley. Let sit in the fridge to marinate for about an hour. Then chop up your pears, tear up some pieces of basil, and assemble! Pears on the bottom, cheese in the middle and basil on the top. This are delicious little bites everyone can enjoy, especially if you buy lactose free cheese, which is why I used the raw milk cheese!
