So I was making bacon the other day and had a thought…what if I make gravy for my turkey with the bacon grease instead of the turkey drippings? This was the result and it was delicious! I, of course, peppered it up, but cut back on the pepper if you so desire! I also used truffle salt, which was superb, but regular salt will do the trick.
Ingredients:
4 slices bacon – you are reserving the grease so eat the bacon!
2 tbs bacon grease reserved from cooked bacon
3 tbs pepper – yep, that’s a lot of pepper
1 tsp truffle salt
2 cups milk
2 tbs corn starch – make sure it’s gluten-free! – to thicken the sauce
Preparation:
In a large skillet, combine all ingredients and whisk together over medium heat. Let simmer for 5 minutes, making sure to whisk it occasionally so it doesn’t burn. At 5 minutes, check consistency and if you find it too thin for your liking, add a bit more corn starch. Also give it a taste and see if you prefer more pepper or salt! That’s really it! Super easy gravy that has a great bacon flavor! Plus, extra bacon to snack on! Nothing wrong with that!
